As you might be aware, I am a huge fan of purple lipsticks. Just a quick scroll through my Instagram and you’ll see I don a mauve mouth on quite a number of occasions.
I thought I would share my Top 5 faves of my collection, ranging from the neon bright to muted almost-pink plum. Stay tuned for a separate Top 5 Plum Lipsticks, they are just a whole different kettle of fish! Now, let’s go through this purple vixens from left to right!
Rimmel London Kate Shade 04 (RRP $6.95)
I’ve mentioned this shade a few times here on the blog and it’s still one of my staple shades. The dark, eggplant lipstick can be scary looking, but it’s perfect for those days when you want to make a statement without using a red lipstick. It’s also a great alternative to a black lipstick!
MAC Plumful (RRP $36.00)
My perfect pink-purple hue. It looks way pink next to these other shades, but next to pinks it looks purple toned. It’s a lustre finish MAC Lipstick, which is uber moisturising and quite sheer, but buildable. I get so many compliments when I wear this colour!
BYS Lipstick in Electric Lavender (RRP $3.50)
When I want to try out crazier colours, but I am unsure if the lipstick is going to suit me, I like to try out cheaper alternatives. This particular lipstick is actually a pretty nice formula, so I never bothered ordering the lipstick I originally wanted (Lime Crime D’Lilac for those watching at home). It’s quite pigmented but does require re-application after a couple of hours.
Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream in Tok-Yi-O (RRP $10.49)
One of my most worn purple lip products in my collection. This bright, neon matte lip cream lasts all day long, even through eating and drinking! However, because it is a matte finish, make sure your lips are hydrated and smooth, otherwise it will attach to dry, flaky bits.
Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Shameless (RRP $17.95)
The newest in my purple collection, but definitely well-loved! It’s a more ‘velvety’ matte finish than the Australis Velourlips, and a warm pink-toned purple. All the matte balms are so moisturising and nourishing because of the three butters infused into the product (shea, coconut and mango). Let me know if you’d like a full review on my Revlon Colorburst Balms!
